NASA ScienceCasts

"ScienceCasts," are a range of videos created by an astrophysicist and a team of agency narrators and videographers. The videos are posted online every Thursday afternoon at approximately 4 p.m. EDT. The format is designed to increase understanding of the world of science through simple, clear presentations.

"If you want entertaining, yet very informative, these videos are for you," said Ruth Netting, manager for communications and public engagement in NASA's Science Mission Directorate in Washington.

Future episodes will focus on citizen science research; the search for new galaxies; how to watch this summer's Perseid meteor shower; and the causes of recent wild weather events in the United States.

As part of the Science and Society programme, the STFC supports the development of science education in the UK. There is a school liaision officer who can advise on ways to link school science with research being carried out by UK scientists around the world. STFC has numerous free publications, operates Small and Large Award funding schemes, runs the loan scheme for lunar samples and meteorites, and also supports the Pupil Researcher Initiative.

UK SEDS

Students for the Exploration and Development of Space (SEDS) is the world's largest space enthusiast organisation for both school and university students. Anyone who is interested can become a member of UKSEDS. They hold an annual National Conference, which brings together students throughout the country to learn more about space and to meet professionals in the space business.

The Zooniverse is home to the internet's largest citizen science projects. The projects within the Zooniverse provide an excellent resource for inquiry-based learning within the classroom or for home-school groups.
