Video animation on Mars rovers

20. 07. 11

Check out this great video animation from NASA, which is available to view on the New Scientist website.

The video, narrated by Allen Chen (Entry, Descent and Landing Systems Engineer, Jet Propulsion Laboratory) demonstrates how NASA's Mars rover 'Curiosity' will start exploring Mars in just over a year's time. The video shows how Curiosity will travel to Mars, the complex landing apparatus required to ensure a smooth touchdown, and then how Curiosity will set about exploring Mars in the hope of discovering hints of life.

Curiosity will launch at the end of the year, and then take eight and a half months to reach the planet, before touching down in one of two possible locations, and beginning its exploration mission.

You can watch the video here - Curiosity.
