A|D|S, the UK’s AeroSpace, Defence and Security trade organisation have just launched the 2011 UK Schools Aerospace Youth Rocketry Challenge (UKAYRoC).

The annual challenge aims to harness the interest of young people in science and maths at school through a practical, teamwork-based application of their studies with a significant prize for the winner as an added incentive.

The challenge also aims to inform the teachers and students who take part about the excellent careers available in the UK aerospace sector and in wider high-tech engineering industries. Teams of students aged 11 to 18, from schools throughout the UK are invited to participate. The challenge will attract teams from every area of the UK, including Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
