Do you want to take part in a Vesta Fiesta?

04. 08. 11

To celebrate the beginning of NASA's Dawn Mission - a year-long exploration of new worlds (beginning with the exploration of Asteroid Vesta, then moving on to dwarf planet Ceres) - NASA is encouraging members of the public to hold Vesta Fiestas to celebrate.

There a number of resources and further information and support being offered by NASA to help organisations such as clubs, school groups, astronomical societies and museums across the world to celebrate. There will be a number of opportunities to connect with Dawn mission scientists, network with local observatories, carry out fun activities and a number of other Dawn-related materials.

Vest Fiestas are scheduled to take place all over the place between 5 - 7 August 2011. There is an interactive map available on the NASA resources webpage (link below) to enable you to find your local fiesta. One organisation holding a fiesta in the UK is the famous Black Rock Castle Observatory in Cork, Ireland, who are holding a fiesta which will also help raise funds for the Concern Horn of Africa appeal.

Visit the NASA resources webpage to find all you need to host your very own Vesta Fiesta.
