13. 09. 10

Queen Mary, University of London, is running a completion that is open to all school students aged 11-18 in the UK and Ireland, concerning the forthcoming Cassini Equinox mission to Saturn.

The first prize is the fantastic opportunity to undertake a research placement with Professor Carl Murray, the only UK member of the Imaging Team on the Cassini Equinox mission. The winner will be given the chance to provide real input to the scientific mission to Saturn. There are also secondary prizes including a Nintendo DS, an iPod shuffle and books by Lucy Hawking.

To enter: Students are challenged to convince the judging team (in less than 500 words) which image of Saturn – or its moons – the Cassini spacecraft should take out of a possible three selected by NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

Prizes will be awarded in three different age categories and entries must be received by 5pm, Friday 5th November 2010.
