China's Shenzhou-9 capsule, with its crew of three, has docked with the Tiangong-1 space lab. This is China's fourth manned mission and marks China’s first woman in space. The female astronaut Liu Yang, 33, an air force pilot, flies with Commander Jing Haipeng, 46, and fellow flight engineer, Liu Wang, 42.

The spacecraft will dock with the Tiangong 1 space station module, as China bids to establish a permanent space base in orbit.
