Applications now open for the position of Teacher in Residence at RAL

21. 04. 11

Following a successful pilot in 2010, the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) is currently seeking applications from teachers of secondary science for a fellowship to work at their Rutherford Appleton Laboratory near Didcot in South Oxfordshire.

The placement will ideally be for three terms part time, but could be full and for a shorter period, depending on the availability of the most appropriate candidate.

The role will involve the following, with the flexibility to cover more areas depending on the interests of the successful applicant:

  • Learning about a range of STFC research and facilities
  • Using this knowledge to find the best curriculum links in the STEM curricula at KS3, KS4, KS5 and diploma courses
  • Defining, agreeing and producing a resource which can be used by schools in the future
  • Advising the Science in Society team on how best to work with schools, teachers and young people
  • Mobilising and inspiring STFC scientists and engineers to support outreach work

The full person specification and application form can be found on the STFC website, or you can download just the application form below.

Applications must be completed and returned by 9 May 2011.
