Space Academy Science Teacher INSET - KS3 & 4 Physics

An INSET day organised by the National Space Centre and the European Space Agency and based on activities developed as part of the Space Academy programme. This will be an all-day teacher masterclass focused on enhancing attendee subject knowledge as well as providing a host of relevant curriculum-focused hands-on activities that can be implemented immediately in the classroom.

Attendees will also receive a data stick with over 500MB of digital resources to accompany the course and will have the opportunity to see "We are Astronomers", the official 2009 International Year of Astronomy "fulldome" planetarium show produced by the National Space Centre.

Curriculum topics covered include:

- Gravity and Newton's Laws
- Energy
- The electromagnetic spectrum + uses of
- Wave phenomena
- States of matter including gas laws
- Space exploration and the Universe

The course tutor is Anu Ojha, Director (Space Academy) at the National Space Centre and Advanced Skills Teacher (Physics/Science), Cardinal Newman School (Coventry).

Cost: £45 (including refreshments, lunch and resources). This INSET is eligible for Science Learning Centre East Midlands Impact Awards. As part of this partnership the Science Learning Centre East Midlands may offer Impact Awards of £200 per day for each qualified teacher from a maintained school attending this CPD course.
