A Night with the Stars

Northern Ireland

24. 04. 12

From 6pm

Armagh Planetarium is hosting a ‘Night with the Stars’ on Tuesday 24th April. The Planetarium will have free digital theatre shows, arts and crafts, fascinating presentations and telescope viewing (weather permitting).

Visible in the sky that night will be Saturn, Venus and Mars. The Lyrids meteor shower will also be peaking around this time, lasting from April 16-25, they peak on the 21-22 April, so visitors may be lucky enough to see a few shooting stars.

The event will be joined by experts from the Northern Ireland Amateur Astronomy Society (NIAAS) who will be bringing along a range of telescopes for public night sky viewing. They will be on hand to help with any telescope queries. So if you have a telescope and are not sure how to use it, this is your chance to get some expert advice from the NIAAS members.

For younger visitors there will be a special Stargazing arts and crafts room where they can have fun making their very own "Stars in a Jar".
